KE Wilson Art
My artwork explores themes of identity and belonging. As a child, roaming across paddocks and along dirt tracks, I was always in contact with nature, immersed in the sensory experience of place. Living in the country, to get anywhere we had to travel through the landscape –bouncing around on the back seat of the Kingswood I would be peering out the window, eating up the magic of ever-changing scenes. Being raised female on the land created a way of seeing, as if through a particular lens.
Without access to metropolitan art schools, or even art as a subject at school, I am largely self-taught. Living with a chronic pain condition that limits my physical capacity, I paint when I am able. When travel is not possible, painting helps me engage with place.
Colour and semi-abstracted forms invite the viewer to respond. These pieces have been called 'dreamlike,' 'peaceful,' 'mysterious,' and 'enticing.' In depicting the beauty of the natural world, I aim to highlight its intrinsic value, its inherent worth.Selected works below for sale. Click image for details of sizing and price.
