      • In the studio near Yackandandah, northeast Victoria, working from images taken locally or further afield, I usually complete a painting in one or two sittings, engaging in the process of mark making in an intuitive manner.

Expressive use of colour and semi-abstracted forms invite the viewer to respond - works have been described as ‘dreamlike’, ‘peaceful’, 'mysterious' and ‘enticing'.

In capturing the beauty of the natural world I hope to increase awareness of its intrinsic value, its inherent worth.

      • Being raised on the land imprints landscape deep within the psyche.

As children we were always in contact with nature, roaming across paddocks and along dirt tracks, immersed in the sensory experience of place. To get anywhere we had to travel through landscape – bouncing around on the back seat of the Holden Kingswood I would be peering out the window, eating up the magic of ever-changing scenes.

Without access to metropolitan art schools, or art as a subject at school, I have learnt through observation and classes taken as an adult. Living with a chronic condition that limits my physical capacity, I paint when windows of opportunity arise. And, when I am unable to get 'out and about' painting gives me a way to reconnect with the land.
